Google Commemorates the Beijing 2008 Olympics Games

E-mail Print PDF

Google often change their logo to commemorate an event. This time round, Google celebrates the opening of the Olympics Games in Beijing on 8th August, 2008 (08.08.08) with the following logo art, featuring the mascots HuanHuan, representing the Olympic flame, holding onto the Olympic torch and leading Beibei, Jingjing, Yingying and Nini carrying the Olympic flag.

There is a new logo art every day, featuring 12 animals from the Chinese Zodiac. These series of logo art well reflect the Chinese culture.

A popular legend has it that a race was used to decide the animals to report to the Jade Emperor for a banquet to be selected for the zodiac signs. The years were given to them in the order they had arrived.

Hence, I believe this is the reason why the 12 animals of the Chinese zodiac is featured in the logo art.
