Makan cum Outing with Friends

E-mail Print PDF

We decided to clear our Singapore Flyer 25% promotions on Sunday. Me and my makan kakis meet for afternoon high tea at Bugis Junction TCC before doing some light window shopping at BHG. We make a move to Whole Earth Vegetarian for dinner. Food there is great! The Nutty Buah Keluak is nice! Love the gravy and bitter black nuts!

We made our way to Singapore Flyer to enjoy the night view. We are disappointed. Firstly, it was too dark for a good view. The reason for the darkness is due to Sunday. Most offices are closed on Sunday hence the skyline is dark. To make matter worse, constructions to Gardens by the Bay and Marina Bay Sands is still ongoing. There is no beautiful scenery at all!

After Singapore Flyer, we head off to Marina Bay Sands. The moment I saw the casino, I have a strong sense of the feng shui setup. Although the casino is brightly lit, the ambience at the shoppes is rather gloomy. Negative energy = losing money. Not a good place to gamble and win money!

We end our day at Marina Square MacDonalds for a drink and to rest our legs before heading home.

Wisdom tooth extraction

E-mail Print PDF

DSC01038 I went for my wisdom tooth extraction today (21 June 2010) at NTUC DentiCare. The dentist’s technique is good. With one swift move and a "crack" sound, my tooth including its root, is out. I was in a state of shock for a while after the extraction. There was some bleeding for an hour and after that, everything is fine. I can't rinse my mouth for a day and have to abstain from hot drinks.

I didn't know my wisdom tooth is so huge! The root is almost 1cm long! I am going to place it under my pillow tonight and hope the tooth fairy will come along! ;)

My top right wisdom tooth has been with me for about 6 years. It started with a small growth and became a big teeth 2 years later. It is slightly tilted outwards. As a result, food gets trapped and it started to decay (Notice the black mark). After the bleeding stop, I kind of missed my wisdom tooth as now there is an empty gap at where my wisdom tooth used to stood.

Look mama, no screws and nails!

E-mail Print PDF

kullen_drawer I went to Challenger and IKEA to make some purchases on Saturday. Bought some IT accessories from Challenger and Kullen Drawer from IKEA. I had no time to assemble the drawer until Sunday evening after dinner. I got a shock after I open the package. There are no screws and nails included! How am I going to assemble my drawer?

I made a trip down to IKEA again to get the fixtures. I could not find the right ones at the self-help counter so I approached the counter staff. They were too, shock to know that the fixtures are missing. They find it hard to believe that the screws and nails were not included. They tried to source for the screws and nails but they could not get the vita parts – drawer railings.

The supervisor advised me to go back and look at my package closely for a box which I may have mistaken for as a divider and may have trashed it. I got a feeling that he did not believe that I have purchased the drawer. I tried to explain there I DIDN’T see any box or bag of screws. He refuse to accept. I have no choice but to return home to get my package and receipt. Freaking heavy 10KG package and spend $15 cab fare to and fro.

When they realised that indeed the fixtures were missing (and I really bought the drawer from them yesterday) the supervisor apologised and offered me two $5 voucher. It is not in sufficient to compensate the time lost and money spend. However, I accepted their offer as they have apologised sincerely. It then that I realised that the packing is actually done in Singapore stores when the supervisor questioned who did the packing.

Next time when I make purchase from IKEA, I have to check the package thoroughly to ensure everything is in place before I leave. What a waste of time and money for a cheap drawer unit ($35)!
